The Menopause Handbag
Hello, I’m Leanne from the Menopause Handbag. Along with my friend, we set up the Menopause Handbag to help women keep and build confidence through menopause.
With VJJ Health vision to improve the health of all women using evidence-based solutions, they tied in perfectly with our mission.
I wanted to give as much knowledge as I can to my menopausal audience and the doctors at VJJ and their clinical based products allowed me to do just that. I have learnt so much about the vagina already!
Understanding my vaginal pH level was key to understanding what was happening with my vaginal microbiome, to stave off any infections. Perfectly timed as menopausal changes can increase you getting more vaginal infections. I love the visibility of the pH bundle where I can track the changes in my pH levels.
The Menopause & HRT Discussion Group
The Menopause & HRT Discussion Group on Facebook was established over a decade ago following my surgical menopause to remove my ovaries, marking the start of my perimenopausal journey. The impact on my physical and mental health was profound, and at the time, support resources were scarce.
Creating this support group has been the most fulfilling endeavour of my life. This free space allows women of all ages to come together and support one another. Over the years, I've actively participated in rallies, attended Parliamentary sessions, and supported numerous campaigns. My story was featured in Mariella Frostrup and Alice Smellie's book "Cracking the Menopause," and the group has been highlighted in Davina McCall and Dr. Naomi Potter's book "Menopausing" as well as the Menopause Mandate book "It's Beyond a Joke!" I've shared my experiences on local radio, podcasts, TV, newspapers, and magazines. Additionally, I've spoken to second-year medical students at Southampton University Hospital as a "patient expert" and recently addressed a large company, speaking to both men and women. I'm proud to serve as an Ambassador for The Lowdown, another exceptional resource.
In the past two years, I've had the privilege of conducting live chats with notable figures such as Davina McCall, Dame Kelly Holmes, Tamzin Outhwaite, Dr. Nighat Arif, Michelle Griffith Robinson, and Kate Muir, among others.
My extensive knowledge of menopause comes from completing the menopause training program offered by Dr. Louise Newson. I now work part-time for Davina McCall on Menopausing & Me, another fantastic support group for women of all ages. I'm dedicated to supporting women seeking guidance on HRT and other menopause-related issues.
VJJ Health is an invaluable resource for my communities, helping women understand changes in their vaginal microbiome. This information is particularly pertinent for my menopausal community, as many women struggle with recurring UTIs, vaginal dryness, and other related issues.
